What a day!

wow! Yesterday I went to Vojtech's farewell party (he's going back to the Czech)... It was really a lot of fun, plus it was a pool party... And let me tell you about that! I didn't want to swim, so I simply didn't bring a swimsuit and wore nice cocktail wear. But, I was so proven wrong as to my idea of not swimming! A group of my friends ganged up and planned this thing where Chris picked me up outta nowehere and BAM I was thrown into the pool, with my earrings, sunglasses and all. OMG the water was so cold!! Plus they threw me in the 7-ft deep side!! So I had to A) stay in a towel for 30 mins, B) change into Matt's basketball shorts and Emily's band t-shirt, C) dry my clothes in the dryer, D) dry my underwear with a hair dryer. At first I was a little upset, especially since I was wearing a skirt... But then I got better. Chris apologized, but it's all good because I know it was just fun you know... Anyways the party ended at like 1, but I left at about 11.30, I was too tired to finish lol. Today I have a Graduation Open House to go to at 1pm, which in all reality is exactly 18min away from now... But as always, I plan on going late so it doesn't really matter. Then after that we're going to Traverse City, spending the night there... Then tomorrow I have another graduation party. Then I have to get ready for DC. Things are getting to finally get unboring haha. Oh yeah, last night my sister and I had this HUGE conversation, about everything. Then outta nowhere she was reading some of my articles I wrote and she goes, "Dude, I can really see you writing for Vogue. I can guarantee you that if you applied there, you'd get the job." That's one of the best compliments I've EVER received man!! ^_^ WOOT!

Public Broadcasting Targeted By House
Panel Seeks to End CPB's Funding Within 2 Years

By Paul Farhi
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, June 10, 2005; Page A01

A House subcommittee voted yesterday to sharply reduce the federal government's financial support for public broadcasting, including eliminating taxpayer funds that help underwrite such popular children's educational programs as "Sesame Street," "Reading Rainbow," "Arthur" and "Postcards From Buster."

In addition, the subcommittee acted to eliminate within two years all federal money for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting -- which passes federal funds to public broadcasters -- starting with a 25 percent reduction in CPB's budget for next year, from $400 million to $300 million.

What the Republicans say:

Rep. Ralph Regula (R-Ohio), the subcommittee's chairman, said the cuts had nothing to do with dissatisfaction over public radio or TV programs. "It's pretty simple," he said in an interview. "The thinking was, there's not enough money for everything. There are 'must-do,' 'need-to-do' and 'nice-to-do' programs that we have to pay for. [Public broadcasting] is somewhere between a 'need-to-do' and a 'nice-to-do.' "

Way to go guys, deprive the little children of the only "good" TV programs out there why don't you.

sous l'oeil de l'ange

Et il m'a dit un jour, écoute petit
Va, cours, rattrape ta chance
Vis ton rêve, la vie te sourit
En une seconde, un oui, un non
Tu passes à côté
Pense pas dans le vent du courage
Vas-y, élance-toi,
Quand tu as l'impression de vivre

Refrain (2x)

U.S. Warns Citizens of Potential Attack in Tunisia

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The State Department has issued a travel advisory for its citizens in Tunisia, warning of potential terrorist attacks in the North African tourist destination.

"The United States Government has strong indications that individuals may be planning imminent terrorist actions in Tunisia," the State Department said in a April 19 statement.

"We have no further information on specific targets, timing, or method of attack, or capabilities of these individuals."

Washington said a terrorist attack may occur on or around dates of religious significance, such as the Moulid holiday in the third week of April.

"U.S. Government facilities remain at a heightened state of alert," it said.

A Tunisian government source, who declined to be named, told Reuters that the warning came within the context of similar warnings issued in many countries of possible terrorist attacks.

"Tunisian authorities have made the security and tranquility of citizens and guests of the country a priority. They will spare no effort or energy to preserve the security, peace and tranquility Tunisia enjoys," he said.

Tunisia was hit by a suicide attack in April 2002, claimed by Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network. The attack on a Jewish shrine on the southern Tunisian island of Djerba killed 21 people, including 14 German tourists.

Tourism is Tunisia's most important foreign currency earner, accounting form almost 20 percent of its total earnings.

Ugh this kind of news makes me nervous.

listening to Mikael Delta feat. Tania Tsanaklidou - Mia Agapi Mirki (Faithful Mix), from the buddha bar collections. im addicted to the collection. so we finally finished the meap, and i have tomorrow off! woot! i have like 3 things to do.. gotta decide on two though. not enough time to fit them in only one day ya know. well my day at school today was okay. boring, yeah you guessed, but more like sad. i finally switched tables at lunch, i swear i culdnt take one more day with the other guys, especially when i have friends seated right across from me. i feel like im becoming better friends with some, but also losing some other friendships (not that i have a lot of friends in whitmore, dont get me wrong, sometimes i dont wanna talk to anybody)... but one of my friends has been acting weird lately, and i just dont know whats up. anyways, at home, everything is excellent. im so happy to finally hear the "discussions" that my grandmother, uncle, and mother take part in almost everyday. they talk a lot. but its a good thing. i just love listening to them. omg, i just remembered, kent, i'll never forget last night. thats was way too hilarious to forget. "say it! say it! you cant speak french?! how come?!" haha... everytime i think about it i start to smile all over again. good times. well im gonna bounce. ciao everyone...

loca por tu amor

omg im having such a good day...! im in the mood for anything, up for anything! only 5 days til my family comes over. the only bad part is that i have school tomorrow. back to boredom land in ignorant whitmore lake. i cant wait to move, i swear. this summer will be the bomb, especially if i move to cali or north carolina. i know lotsa people there so it'll be all good. but then, ill become far from montréal and québec, my only two escapes from americanized, unflavorful places! :-( anyways, i dont even care where i move now, as long as i get out of here. even if its as far as the uae or japan (ok maybe not japan, good idea for summer vacation though)
im so in love with this salsa song called "tengo ganas" by victor manuelle. so... dreamy. feels like dancing on a hot summer day in buenos aires, avec tout les amis qui me partagent a créer l'ambiance parfaite! oh by the way, i made lyrics and i sung them out to the instrumental "sen gelmez oldun" by alihan samedov, from the buddha bar collection. it sounds nice. plus first i had to interpret the sounds and stuff and think up a theme that would fit well into it. but since the original song "starts" (like once all sounds are in use) after a whole minute, i cut the lyrics short as well to only fit the melodic part. ill post the lyrics someday (once i write them down lol... now i just memorized them) that reminds me, ill play the song here, the original i mean.
ahh i need new jeans. desperately. i found an amazing pair at ruehls last night, but they were $128. i didnt have that money on me, not then anyways. it was the only pair ive loved in my life. i have to go back and get them sometime. i wanna perfect the new sailor look so bad! i got the khakis, the striped shirt, and the anchor pin, oh and also the red, contrasting necklace which im just not letting go these days (ive worn it 4 days straight! perfect accessory!!)...
oh, on a more honorable note of respect, RIP Pope John Paul II. was a great humanitarian.
im gonna go. mwah.
oh also, how do you guys like my elie saab couture close up collage?

khodny ma3ak

im listening to marwan khoury, for those who dont know, the best male arabic singer out there!! he sings, writes, and produces!! not to mention his voice is amazing. i especially love his breakout single "kel el 2asayed" and "ettala3 fiyye" by carol samaha (marwan wrote and produced the song)
anyways, so i went to the mall yesterday, an and i actually got that skirt from lord and taylor! très adorable !! i also bought a sports muscle top and a BCBG 'sailor' shirt... i just want the matching jacket now... ahhh my obsession just wont cease! i get one thing, i want the other! im also going back to the mall today to submit my application to a certain store. not one i particularily like, but hey it's better than sitting my butt down all summer, right? speaking of summer, since im not going to tunis (or anywhere else out of the states for that matter... okay maybe canada and mexico)... im going to DC for 10 days with CSLC (leadamerica.org) should be fun.

je t'aimerais n'importe le prix, je te devrais toujours ma vie

hungry

oh man i think i wanna starve myself again. i JUST ate some salad, and now im hungry again... how unfair! im not eating though, its 10.30 already, never, never, never now.
marcy and i are making custom tank tops, though far away from each other, we're making them at the same time. you see, its gonna be a tank that has (picture of lips)+me+je suis+tunisian (for her, lebanese) then we are putting ribbons on one of the shoulders. fun stuff no? i wanna go to a sample sale so bad! im so sick of barney's and bergdorf.. lol i wanna feel the excitement of virtually fighting over a pair of blahniks. i need new heels anyways.
kent is going to italia today. good luck with your jet lag mate.
ok so today i went to the mall to check out some job openings at either a&f, hollister, or ruehls, but the mall was closed! agh! "easter sunday" bull. not everyone is christian you know. maybe we should try closing on hanukkah and eid too, no? i wanna leave this red country...
oh you know those new prada full skirts, that are like sheer cotton with prints of 'venice' scenes on them? i just saw some that are way cheaper at lord and taylors the other day (ok 50 euros instead of 1400, you get the point!)
well anyways, im heading off.

uhm?

"its me and you... walou. torala nada sale el todo, y el todo se hace nada" -outlandish, 'walou'
wow first day of spring break, just hanging around the house reading and listening to music and working out. feels good actually. im reading this amazing book by lawrence durrell, called "the lawrence durrell travel reader" i highly recommend it, especially if you love travelling and finding yourself while doing so.
i might be buying a new coach purse soon. either the signature demi pouch in tan or the mini duffel in black. still deciding. or i might buy a new TV or a digital camera (konica)... so its one of those things. marcy, help me decide!!

spring

oh yes, finally spring break. i think any student needs it. not to mention the fact that i was on the verge of collapsing on the last day (today)... i feel so relaxed, knowing that i wont be inschool for 10 days. plus spring is here- well a little anyways. it snowed last night. but, spring, that always lifts my moods up. i just found out last weekend that my favorite person in the whole wide world is coming to visit us for two months. i love him. and he's coming. i feel too lucky. way too good to be true.
anyways, on to more general things... bush just had his first defeat. im glad [claps frantically]. his plan for social security privitization obviously wasn't accpeted by many. there were even some senators from his own party disagreeing with him.
i guess i was just one of the many.
